Build a Meaningful Story Before an Application

The strongest direction usually comes from sustained curiosity, not a last-minute list of impressive activities.

01

Choose a thread worth following

Look for questions the student returns to across classes, reading, conversations, or community experiences. The thread does not need to be a future major. It needs enough personal energy to support deeper work over time.

02

Deepen before adding

Before joining another club, ask whether the student can take on a harder question, produce something useful, mentor someone younger, or connect existing interests. Depth creates clearer evidence of judgment and contribution than activity count alone.

03

Keep an evidence log

Once a month, record what the student tried, learned, changed, and contributed. Save links, drafts, photos of work, and brief reflections. This record supports honest essays later and helps the family notice growth that grades alone do not show.
